Adding a Flickr or Slide photo gallery to a document

flickrlogogammagifv12

For those of you using Flickr to store your photo albums online here's a neat way of incorporating the slideshow into one of your articles! if you want to create a slideshow of images uploaded to your web site see creating a slideshow.

1. Decide what photos are going to appear in your slideshow - it's best to add all these photos to a set (flickr's equivalent of an album) as it'll make it easier to limit which photos are included.

2.  Once you've created your new set, display the set as a slideshow.

3.  The url of the page you are currently displaying will look something like this:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/**name**/sets/**set number**/show/

the set number is the important part - you'll need to note this down for later.

4.  Create your new article; once you have finished adding text and images as required click the "source" button:

source

this will display the html for your article.

5.  At the end of the code add the following:

<iframe width="500" scrolling="no" height="500" align="middle" src="http://www.flickr.com/slideShow/index.gne?set_id=**set number**@N00&amp;frameBorder=0"></iframe>

replacing the '**set number**' portion with the set number you wrote down earlier.

6.  Click the source button once again to return to your article and save it in the usual way.  Note: the slideshow will not be visible in the article editor.

And for those of you using www.slide.com

1.  Create your slideshow on the web site as usual.
2.  Once the slideshow is complete the "myspace" sharing option will provide html code which looks something like:

<embed src="http://widget-75.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="l" wmode="transparent" flashvars="site=widget-75.slide.com.com&channel=**slideshowid**&cy=ms" width="600" height="200" name="flashticker" align="middle" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"/>

Make a copy of this html code to use in your article

3. Create your new article; once you have finished adding text and images as required click the "source" button:

source

this will display the html for your article.

4.  Paste the html code into your article.
5.  Press the Source button to return to your article and save it in the usual way.

In addition I suggest a few scripts that link in with your flickr account... http://www.flickrshow.com/ which is very easy to set up. And http://www.lackadaisical.com/apps/fsviewr/ which takes a bit of effor to set up properly, but looks absolutely beautiful!

Yeah - I saw flickrshow a couple of weeks ago - looks really nice, but I'll also check out the lackadaisical site and maybe I'll try and add these to this guide?

Very simple to setup worked well, however the picture quality seems to have been reduced, is this normal??

I looked up the lackadaisical site and got this message on the homepage:

I used to post photos here, but fatefully living up to the name, not so much lately. I’m thinking it’s time to do something else with this space. Not sure when, but hopefully soon. Cheers, Lucas. March 2008

So that option's closed now. Never seen a message like that so beautifully presented!

Also the City Life Church link isn't available any more.

Has anyone had a problem with the 'no such photos found message'? We have this message for some people viewing it but not others. There haven't been any changes made to the show in flickr or anything, it just doesn't work all the time - can anyone help please?
