Release Notes - 28th May 2009

These are the release notes for another round of great updates to the Insight platform. As always if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.

Headline Enhancements

  •  Resource booking inside events
When creating or editing events in the Calendar, you can now book resources for that event inside the same window. This saves the time consuming process of editing the event and then separately booking resources. Many of you have requested this feature, so we hope it makes your lives a little bit easier!
  • Change payment date on payment group registrations
With recurring payments, such as subscriptions, customers often want to be able to change their regular payment date - for example, so that they can give their monthly donation after their salary is paid. We've added a task in payment group registrations, so that administrators can now change the payment date. You just have to select the payment scheme that you want to apply the change to, select the new date for the next payment, and that's it!

When choosing a new date, you also have the option to amend the amount of the next receivable to account for the change in the length of the payment period. This would be applicable if, for example, you were offering an ongoing service such as access to online resources.
  • Payment group registration confirmation emails
In addition to the existing email sent to the booker when a payment group registration is approved, you can now optionally configure your payment groups to send emails to all the delegates upon either registration or approval (or both). These can all be configured on the 'Completion' tab in the payment group settings.
  • New interface for payment group payment scheme settings
We've made a big improvement to the payment schemes tab in the payment group settings area, in preparation for a range of new options that will be added in future releases. Currently, you will see just the same options that you saw before, but arranged more logically on sub-pages in an accordion menu.
  • Upcoming payment group features
We've been promising some exciting new payment group features for some time. As well as the new features in this release, there are some other new features to look forward to which didn't quite make this release:
  • Automated approval of registration edits
  • An overhaul of group membership management
  • Options for deferred approval of registrations

Other enhancements and bug fixes

  • Calendar events have their titles truncated to a fixed length when displayed. In the Calendar module settings you can now vary this fixed length.
  • Some emails which had been saved as 'drafts' gave an error when attempting to open them. This has now been fixed.
  •  If you uploaded a really thin image, it was then impossible to select in the Web Office. We've fixed this now, so your images can be as thin as you like!
  • We've made some improvements to the layout of the delivery charge display in the checkout.
  • All test emails now mail merge correctly.
  • Top-level group links on the footer component now display correctly.
  • As in many of our releases, we've made many changes 'under the hood' to enhance the reliability, scalability and performance of our code.

Woot! The Resource bookings inside events feature is finally here. We might actually start using the Resource feature! I'd just booked a meeting with the Church Administrator to discuss this exact issue.
