Release Notes - 2nd February 2009

These are the release notes for the latest updates to the ChurchInsight platform. As always if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.

Headline Enhancements

  • Media improvements
    The uploading of audio and video files has been to upgraded to include the following enhancements:

    • Improved upload process direct the the Media server meaning faster, and more reliable uploading.
    • Removal of the 50 MB file size upload limit.
    • Consistent upload process in both the web site and the shop.
    • Files that have been previously added to a recording can now be copied to shop items and visa versa.
    • Intelligent file names given to newly uploaded media.
    • Simple one click method to download recordings for newly uploaded media making the downloading of files in recording easier for your users.

    Note:Access to files uploaded via FTP has been disabled. The new media upload interface should be used instead, as it provides a quicker more reliable upload process. If you have previously uploaded files via FTP that you wish to access please contact us, and we can temporarily give you access to them.
  • System emails upgrade
    The site system emails e.g.resetting a password, have been upgraded to use the core mailing engine, producing more reliable, efficient sending of system mails.

    New features include the ability to create HTML templates for system mails. For example you could now include your logo on the welcome email that is sent out when a user's application is approved. System mails are now included in the mailing history. This means within each user record, under the 'mail' tab, site administrators can view all system mails that were sent to that user. System mails can also accessed through the 'Mailing' area within the 'system sent items' folder.
  • iTunes Podcast meta data
    It's now possible to customise the meta data for your Audio/Video podcast allowing more control over what's displayed in both the iTunes store and iTunes application. The meta data that can now be edited includes: Title, Description, Author, Image and other tags.

Other enhancements and bug fixes

  • Numerous performance enhancements.
  • Option added to article list component to include articles in subgroups.
  • User browser upgraded to include both first and last name searches enabling more precise locating of users.
  • Flash Video media player updated to the latest version.
  • Rota reminders are now sent for entire groups that are added to a rota task, previously rota reminders were only sent to individuals added to a rota.
  • Chat component display in Firefox bug has been fixed.
  • Independent groups can now be moved to be located directly below the root group - previously the root group couldn't be selected
  • Linking to deleted articles now displays an 'article not available' message.
  • Global notes that are included within a mailing are no longer limited to 30 characters.
  • Accompanying links to groups are now removed correctly when the linked group is deleted.
  • Article list RSS feeds now include 'guid' and 'pub date' tags.
  • Fix to minor calendar RSS feed issues.
  • Changes made to the Payment groups receivable icons and descriptions to make the status of payments clearer to administrators.
  • Fix to removing discounts within Payment groups.
  • 'Create a URL' task added for accessing the financial report export externally.
  • Shop price tax display issue in Web Office resolved.
